Leap of Faith

Some of you may have heard, but a couple of weeks ago I went skydiving! Thanks to Jeff for volunteering me to go. His aunt, who was in town, had wanted to go and told my sister-in-law, Cindy that she was going to go with her. Jeff just happened to overhear this and told them to count me in, as well. The thought of doing it had always been on my mind, but I never thought that I would actually go through with it. Fortunately, I did not chicken out, like I thought I would!

When we arrived, we had to wait 3 hours before boarding our plane! Imagine getting up the nerve to jump and having to wait for so long. Atleast, it gave me some time to reconsider my decision. However, as we waited, we watched as the jumpers who went up before us came down safely. It was actually a lot of fun watching all of the parachutes open up. As my cousin-in-law put it, "It's as if the sky is giving birth." : )

Finally, it was our turn. We had to strap into our gear and have a quick training session. Then there was the walk out to the plane, as the Top Gun theme music was playing in my head! As we soared above San Diego, I knew that there was no turning back now. All of a sudden, people just started jumping and it was time for me to go. What a rush...Imagine jumping out of a plane 13,000 ft above the earth and falling at speeds of up to 120 mph. Needless to say, the experience doesn't really feel like you are falling. Instead, it's as if you are flying through the sky...at speeds of up to 120 mph. So the winds are really blowing against you. Just look at my face in some of those pictures! : ) Well, I guess that's one thing to check off my list of things to do in my lifetime.

That's so cool you went skydiving! Why didn't Jeff go with you, though? Was he chicken?

It was pretty amazing! Jeff couldn't go because "he had to work." : ) But he's been before. We should post his video...it's pretty funny. He's chewing gum and then it flies out, but he's able to catch it in his mouth again, for fear that it doesn't end up flying down and hitting someone on the head.
